YCN-Hosting Changes - Termination of German

As a result of recent DDoS attacks which have led to large drops in sales, YCN-Hosting is undergoing major changes in order to keep our game servers operations. Firstly we will be closing down our Germany based servers in order to reduce the size of our network infrastructure and cut costs. 

 

Further in 2014 however we will be looking to merge our infrastructure with another provider which will result in the transfer of all of our game servers and accounts. During this transition all game servers will be transferred with minimal downtime to our clients however we cannot guarantee that clients will be able to preserve their existing IP address, or rather not without prolong downtime on the old IP.

 

We would like to offer our affected clients two options of how to proceed:

 

1) Any client can already switch their server to our UK based hosting, the IP address will change to our UK based IP addresses as we are unable to transfer our Germany based IP addresses. However during the transition to the new provider later in 2014 the IP addresses are likely to change as the UK addresses will not be accessible during the transition process.

 

You can move your server to our UK location any time from now on, however if your server has not been moved by the 28th of November then it will be moved for you on this date.

 

2) Our new provider is able to start hosting a small number of clients already, who can transfer now rather than waiting until 2014. Due to limited space, priority will be given to public servers and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

 

Servers will be assigned a new IP address which will be permanent and will not change during any other changes to YCN Hosting.

 

If you wish to switch to our new provider ahead of the official transfer then please post a ticket with the title: PRE-MIGRATE

No, the YCN and Gameservers expire in a weeks time and I'm not renewing them, we will keep the two dediboxes we have, will move the German TM cup server to the Hetzner box next week.

Yeah, they where really good a few years ago but dropped off over the last year when Evgenye went to work for Zinga, didn't know Marcus did this is his free time, though the responses recently where taking for ever, shame really, I would have volunteered some of my time for free if they had needed help!

Sorry to hear this it's been hard time at the moment, shortly the situation should get better.

Hi Adrian and welcome to our site.

 

I'm sure you have heard it from many other communities but we could not continue to host our main servers with you in the Netherlands due to the DDOS attacks that they where suffering, it was effecting our server badly which would have had a knock on effect with our community if it had continued.

 

Its a shame really, we did rent nine servers from yourselves and received a generous discount on all our products but it was not financial viable to continue with the services when we had moved our main servers to our dedibox, we do still have one ettv server with you though.

 

All the best with the restructuring, its going to be difficult to regain the confidence of the clients you have lost though especially on a game platform that has a dwindling following.
