indirectly, yes. if it gets too big u experience ingame stuttering....or "sound bugs" in sense of the game "laggin" when playin a sound like "the tank has been repaired"...
had this over a year or something until smirre (or freak, not sure) told me i should clean the ETfolder and just download the maps i need on server.....solved the prob
What he said + plus it increases your game loading time and connecting times since on each map start ET reads all pk3's.
For SSD it will be faster but if you are on old mechanical hard drives keep the ET folder clean and clear.
