Story
December 1944: The noose tightens around the Reich's neck as Allied forces threaten to cross the Siegfried Line and invade Germany. An Eifel castle has become a central location for the Kraut High Command in this area to coordinate their troop movements. It is the last obstacle on the road into Germany and one of the final chances for the Axis to ever turn the tables. Not taking any chances, the Allies are attempting to sneak a suitcase bomb into the High Command conference room to disrupt the Axis strategy at its core.

Changes:
- Added side door to tank compound so it's harder for allies to flank. Side door can be opened by covert ops or by constructing the Southern CP.
- Changed lightning to a more "warm" feel, with that I changed skybox.
- Moved 2nd Truck Barrier, 2nd Tank Barrier and 1st Tank Barrier's construction materials to give axis more cover.
- Made tunnel connecting supply cabinets at Long to 3rd Arch Way.
- Changed balcony completely. Big tower removed. South CP moved on top of new balcony area.
- Bank Courtyard completely overhauled. More cover, more roof access etc.
- Axis 2nd spawn roof changed, (compared to GALS it's easier to get to roof now.)
- Added another exit out of Axis 2nd spawn to cool down on blocking.
- Gold in Bank moved forward.
- Added another entrance into Bank for allies to attack.
- West of Bank Courtyard I opened up a house, again to help allies capture gold.
- *Lots* of clipping removed, I'd say +50%. This gives a way more open feel for the player and more spots are accessible.
- Entities 2720 -> 1702
- MG near old 2nd Truck Barrier removed. Same goes to the one near 2nd Tank Barrier.
- Supply cabs in axis spawn moved to back alley near Bank.

Decription : The Humboldthain Flaktower has sustained severe structural damage from an allied covert strike. While their efforts to destroy all of the flak cannons were unsuccessful, they may attack yet again to destroy the two that remain. The axis must hold them off until reinforcements arrive from the lower levels.
Programs : GTKRadiant 1.3.8, GTKRadiant 1.3.12

Design and Brushwork Time : About three days a week for about 4 months.
Compile time : > 1 hour 30 minutes
Compile machine : P4 2 Ghz, 512mb RAM
Installation : Place the flaktower(alpha).pk3 to your etmain folder, select it from the multiplayer->create server menu.
Textures : I modified some existing ET textures, created some shaders for them and included them with the pk3.

Advise to any would-be mappers who are starting from scratch

So you wanna map? There are a few things to remember that will help you achieve your goal of mapping greatness.
1) Learn from others. I'm sure there are places where one can take classes in map design. However, nothing beats experience and that is what other mappers have.
2) Get ready to read. Map editors have instructions (lots of them). Fellow mappers write tutorials (some good, some not so good) and some of them are very helpful. Not reading the instructions will cost you time in the end. It may even encourage giving up all together.
3) Backup your files often. especially the .map file. It does not matter how careful you are, things will inevitably go wrong whether through fault or no fault of your own. I always keep a backup of the current .map file and a backup of the most recent backup. And I have had to go to previous backups many times.
4) Backup before you do a brush cleanup. Don't try to play the tough guy. You won't EVER see me crying because of not wanting to backup
5) If you really wanna map, play a lot of games too, that helps.
6) Every once in a while stop and ask yourself, "Would I play on this map?"
7) Remember, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can."

Story:
I always wanted to create a real competition map for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. But I never got started to a real
project like this... the only maps I finished are small 1v1 / 2v2 maps or my trickjumpmap (a bit bigger though).
So well, back in the Winter of 2006 I really had too much freetime because of holiday and stuff. So it came that
I reinstalled all the mappingstuff on my harddisk and thought about a nice map.
Anyway this maybe sounds a bit weird but when this amok run happened in Germany - Emsdetten me and some friends
were together hanging out and randomly heard that the guy who ran amok had mapped his school for Counterstrike.
Because we always have much fun @ LAN's and stuff the idea of mapping our school for W:ET @ LAN's became more
and more reality.
Before I write on I really have to note that I misprize the happenings of Emsdetten and i'm sorry for all
the victims and that not in my farest thougts plan to do something like an amok run.
Okay , well in my winterholidays I went skiing and had much fun but also some time to think about my mapping project.
There were many things to plan. (If you really try to remap something of your daily life you'll notice that you don't
remember many details of the looks and stuff ;>) So I made some photos , searched + created textures and made some outlines.
Anyway after about 2weeks when I were back at school I finally started to create the map in my GTKRadiant.
The map is not a perfect remake of Odenthal (the small city it's located in) because I set a higher value
on making the school realistic than the terrain etc. But still there are much similarities like the small
river ,some grassland...
So this is the story behind the map and the name Odenthal. The story set in W:ET is the following:
Axis have constituted an headquarter in the school of Odenthal. Therefore they rebuild some parts of
the school and the town. The Allies forces have to escort their Jagdpanther through the streets of
Odenthal to get access to the school. After this they have to destroy the Main Entrance and the Generator to
disable the magnetic seal of the Security doors to get access to the main building of the school. Inside this
the Axis store their secret documents which have to be secured by the Allies Forces.

This is a fully playable map. The Axis are attacking to dynamite a door to steal some gold. The Allied Forces are defeding the door and the gold.
However, this map is also a so called prefab, for other mappers to use. Therefore, the .map-file is included.
Just rename the door.pk3 file to door.zip and unzip it, to find all necessary files, including the .map-file.

The map was designed with my kids paper/pencils, on vacation, while lying near the pool having a beer. It was made for smaller servers or scrims, but I think you have to test that yourself. The objective is simple. Allies get to the Axis safe, blow it up, get the documents and bring it to the radar post.
