Latest version of best practises how to solve 'lag' problems you can find below. Feel free to let us to know in case that you will need our help!

I Would like to remind, that if the lag is from server side, we usually tell about it (ddos or hardware issue, maintenance etc.) asap.

It is not really good advertisement for the server or the clan, if TM members complain about their lag on server, on public chat.

I'd say it is 99% of the cases, that the issue is either your connection or pc, some cases it is the ddos traffic beetween your route and server, which is nothing we can do about it, except report it to host if it is the nearby dns server.

Just some tips to go through if you start lagging or the lag is continous.

1. check the site if any info about possible ddos etc. (for example here and/or here )

2. do SPEEDTEST for your connection. ( and if you want to ask for help, note your Jitter, Ping and up/download rate)

3. do tracert to our server: etpub.teammuppet.com  ( HOW TO EXAMPLE )

If those look ok, let's go further.

4. Logitech drivers

 - if you have a logitech mouse or keyboard and you have installed a driver or software for it, try disabling it. I just updated the software and all the sudden got terrible soundlag and twitching while shooting. This used to be a old issue, but looks like it still exists!!

4.1. clean your et folders!

 - etmain: delete all not needed maps and paks, keep it under 50 in total. You might have easily 50+ pk3 in your etmain, just from few  previous events for example, you dont need those.

-  mod folder: save your cfg and needed stuff, delete rest, or better delete whole folder, then add back your cfg after you have downloaded all files as fresh. Sometimes there will be new mod version added and you might have old pk3 files there to interrupt and cause the lag.

- demos: if you use autoaction for demo etc. you might want to check these, i had just modest 1703 demos (8.71 Gb total) in my etpub/demos folder for about 1,5 months time :D

-  ALSO REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR etkey BEFORE! (you know, you are only human and you can do some mistake)

It is not a bad idea to reinstall ET from time to time.

5. check for viruses/malware. Too much porn...

- try this for example: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

- and also - for windows users: try to cleanup your pagefile.sys ! You can follow this link for automatic fix http://go.microsoft....?linkid=9738717or you can do it by hand:   http://support.micro....com/kb/314834/

6. when running ET, check if there is some programs using resources by going to the taskmanager:

 - press Control+Alt+Delete and click "Task Manager". For a faster way, press Control+Shift+Escape to launch the task manager directly, bypassing the menu and the mouse entirely. There go to "processes" tab and check what programs are using resources and shut down those if you think it is safe to do so.

While you're there, you can try running ET on just 1 core of your processor:  Click your mouse right button on top of ET task and select "affinity", then uncheck other cores except 1.

7. check your config! You downloaded some config to try and it lags like a hell...ask for help if you dont know what does cvars do. Here is also very usefull LINK

For new ATI video cards, try /seta r_primitives 2 on console/your config!

8. Ask for help!

Anything more usefull tips, feel free to add.

In case, that you will need our help, please keep somewhere this details:

How to check "your connection info":

Use WinMTR to measure your connection to our servers.

In this guide it explains it for google.com, now just replace that with the IP or domain name of the server.

http://winmtr.net/how-to/

Then either post, email, or do whatever you wanted to do with that info.
