Hi everyone,

bringing to forum a few suggestions from players of Original maps server. Many of us play this server for "long" time(2+ years), in this time to be honest i dont remember any change has been done in config (pls correct me if im wrong)..

So now, after i was promoted to admin, players see me as someone who can address the bosses directly :) 

here we go:

1. they asked me if there's a chance to better protect spawn area. not sure what exactly is this maybe to protect it against mortar shots from above i was told to ask for same config as you have on main server (not sure what is this since i only play orignia). Im very sure allies mortar can hit axis spawn area in goldrush and oasis as well.

2. heavy weapon protection in general in spawn area.. so if some crazy panza come into spawn and start massacring there (i remember panza and skilled medic came into spawn, and medic killed&revived panza upon opposite team spawn time so players were unable to kill him since the one was under revive-time protection) ..

 

3. we miss more voting options.. like next/previous map, next campaign, ..

4.. Im very aware server is being called ORIGINAL MAPS.. but... if possible... we would like to have maybe one additional map, maybe we can vote for it on forum and rotate it idk maybe every 2 weeks...

Good suggestions. I think flo can add spawnprotection againts heavy weapons. it have automatic warn system: 3 warns and then comes kick. time incrases when gaining more warnings. 

About map. I always have been wondering how someone play orginal maps from day to day 😁 adding custom map needs to be voted with others players imo

Only kick? So there isnt setted anykind of timed ban than that 5min which kick usually gives.. I mean like if 2nd time in row do that rule breaking after coming back then 2 hours and if continuing break rules then  day  and if still doing then week..   Just thinkin..

Agree about vote.. Maybe for a first time we pick some commonly well accepted custom map (Braundorf, Venice, Adlernest, ...), for next one we vote.. either on forum or discord. 

I believe in festive time people will play more.. So if possible, we include additional map in December already.

Hey hey 🙂

First of all, let me praise admins ANDE and FLO for being very cooperative, extremely helpful, responsive, and dedicated to making the server better.

Recently we applied some minor changes and also a big one -> now we have 2 additional maps. People accepted this open hands since many got bored playing over and over same maps again(including myself) 😊

 

Of course, there is still some space for improvements :D 

Here we go:

  • Spawn area protection against heavy weapons.
    some players ignore the fixed spawn protection and use heavy weapons (bazooka, etc.) inside the spawn. Since I am often the only admin on the server, I can’t be present 24/7 to monitor and react. It would be very helpful to have the option Ande mentioned in a previous post — automatic warn & kick when heavy weapons are used inside the spawn.

  • Maximum number of players.
    The server is currently set to 30 or even 32 players. In short, it becomes unenjoyable once this number is reached. Most maps are simply not designed for so many players. I would suggest reducing the limit — 24 max would be much better.

  • SKIP MAP option sometimes we'd like to skip some map, but we can't since no vote option for nextmap.. On the other hand, me being admin level 8 don't have option to execute !nextmap. As i mentioned being the only active admin on this server sometimes i lack such pretty basic commands. Maybe giving us option to vote for next map can help in such situation...

 

  • SERVER LAG many complain about server lag lately(including myself) at same time people who play other TM servers claim only Original Maps is lagging.. Can anything be done regarding this?

Hello,

what could be done is the following:

- for spawn protection, implement the script running on main ETL server, but:  it also monitors team damage (and warns/kick) / it prevents mortar and MG42 to be used from heavy-protected zones / and not all maps are covered, e.g railgun or fueldump are not supported (yet), we would need to work on these to support the maps

- server slots: no opinion on my side, let's wait opinion from other admins

- next map: this option is available from wolfadmin level 10 and above, but we could allow the voting option.

 

For server lag, I think it's mainly due to this server still running in 20 snaps whereas our main server now supports 40 snaps and 90k rate, which could be a big difference for people used to this smoothness. I think we could apply such configuration on this gameserver too without too much risk.
