Unable to join TeamMuppet ETLegacy server – Windows 11 Smart App Control blocking DLL

Hello,

I'm trying to join the TeamMuppet ETLegacy server, but unfortunately I keep getting the following error: "VM_Create on cgame failed Make sure cgame_mp_x86.dll exists"

The file actually exists in C:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\ETLegacy\legacy\cgame_mp_x86.dll but I found out that Windows Smart App Control is blocking the file because there is no digital signature attached to it.

I am connecting to other (non-TeamMuppet) servers just fine.

Is there a known fix or an alternative way to connect without disabling Smart App Control?

 

I'm running:

• OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)

• Game: ET: Legacy 2.86.2 (32-bit / x86)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

maybe try the 64 bits version of the client. Or even better, use an older version. v2.83.2 works very fine.

1. Right-click your game shortcut and select Properties.
2. Click the Shortcut tab and look for the Target field.
3. Click at the very end of the text (after the closing quotation mark), press Space once, and paste this exact text:
   text

   +set com_hunkMegs 1024 +set com_zoneMegs 128 +set com_soundMegs 160

4. Click Apply and then OK.

Your final Target box should look like this:
"C:\...\etl.exe" +set com_hunkMegs 1024 +set com_zoneMegs 128 +set com_soundMegs 160

I installed the 64 bit version and it worked without issue.
