Hi Sauerkraut, nice to see you here. As one who can't play on pub, I must say I have never heard of you but its a nice effort you've done here. The funny thing is tho that if you had done an introduction like this when you applied, I might have heard and voted for you. Who knows what the result could had been if those who can't play on pub actually knew about you Just be active and things will work out, or as Smurfer says:

You should do a trace route and a ping test. If you are on wifi, you might suffer lag from that. I'm betting the cfg is not the problem.

Due to software changes done in Mac's OS after 10.7 / 10.8, you no longer can join pub servers. I suspect lack of Rosetta support is the issue

I'm going to Poland next week, lets meet up and see about that Unfortunatly, since the deadline for entry to this competition is the day before I go, I don't think I can participate

When I installed ET I used this handy little guide: http://lorentzen.blogspot.no/2012/05/wolfenstein-enemy-territory-available.html It says its for 10.7, but it works for 10.8 too.
