you have unzipped them? and it is your pc u don't need permission from someone else if you share the pc?

you just over write your ETDED.exe over the old one so just copy and paste into your et folder and thats it, if it doesn't ask to over write something is wrong.

Yeah i have been having the same problem, getting new pc now though. Could it be some sort of driver causing the issue?

i never had any problem with et on my older pc but the last 6month may rate as been all over the place

You don't need the patches to play on most server you only really need if you want to play etpro or if its a 2.60 server only.

Is your graphic card drivers up to date? have you tried any other games? or is it just et?

Have you still got you old computer? if so you can get your Etkey from etmain folder and put it in your new one.
