Can't come back

Hi there you guys

I have to say it's been quite a long time and as mentioned already, i've been willing to come back for a few games.

So I catched up a little and installed ETLegacy on my old machine. Guess what? It is obviously not working.

So I'm running EtLegacy 2.76 on my old Windows 10 64 bits and the game crashes whenever I try to connect to a server. The game downloads whatever it needs but then freezes, stops working without any error message and only a good old fashionned ctrl alt delete seems to relieve my old comp from a painful overheating.

I suck at this and am in need of some help to make it run. I miss the sound oh the hitsounds :))

I also read many things on the internet but i'm pretty newbish when it comes to computer stuff.

It may also be possible for my computer to be too old for this kind of requests

Did you tryed any other server?

cl_allowdownload 1  cl_wwwdownload 1   toke me like 4 tryes as well before i could get in the server first time

What files does it try to download before you crash? you could always install manually and see if that helps.

So I did that and it didn't change anything since I had no problems downloading the pack, but thanks. And nice to see you're still around

but then I managed to connect on two servers: a Nitmod and a Beginners. So apparently the issue comes from the ETLegacy servers.

Hi there Mini

The game crashes after the different downloads. You've got the downloads, then awaiting connection then awaiting gamestate. Then you get the main map with the server's description but the loading bar on the right bottom never gets to the end and the game starts shaking and flashing. Not good haha

Are you using normal et2.60b or have you installed etlegacy 2.76?

I suggest to make fresh install. If you have different drive as local - install it there. I have both vanilla and ETL launcher installed on D:/ launcher copied on desktop. Also download files manually might help - if you dont find place to do that, I can maybe zip my folders and send them to you if that helps.  Yoink me in discord later tonight or friday/saturday and let see  

Im using laptop from win7 times, so age should not be issue here.

For me mostly first run ET loadin got freezed while loading.. Esc and reconnect works..

If i remember well, ETlegacy should always be upgraded by performing a clean installation (delete any previous installation of the game, then install the game).

Before doing so, make sure to backup your configs if you use any. 

I'm also willing to look into this for you with Teamviewer or so. Since you can connect to other servers, it can't really be the age of your computer, it'll most likely be a software issue.

If MiniMuppet or MrMuppet have workin version.. Maybe they can send you it.. Without rcon ofcourse, but other settings..

@DiNg your best chance to solve your issue is to copy your log file with the error and share it on ET: Legacy discord (invitation link: https://discord.gg/BKPEvH). Some of the ETL devs should help you. It might be some non-relevant issue that is crashing your client, but I think you would have solved it by now if it had been the case. Given that, I think asking the devs for help might be worth the effort.
