  1. TeamMuppet 20 Years Anniversary Month! May 2022 TeamMuppet was founded in May 2002 by a group of co-workers. It first started as a Soldiers of Fortune 2 clan, and later moved to Wolfenstein Enemy Territory upon its release in 2003. That means we'll soon turn 20 years old! 20. Years. We would like to thank everyone, from regular player to admin, now and from the past, for being part of our community over the years. We greatly appreciate your presence and the work that's being done on our servers on a daily basis in order to maintain an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. We wouldn't be where we are right now without you. Last but not least, a special thanks to @MrMuppet and @MiniMuppet for creating this madness we all love so much all those years ago. Thank you. To celebrate this huge milestone, we're turning the month of May into our 20 Years Anniversary Month! Be ready for multiple events throughout the month! Keep an eye on the forum and/or Discord for further announcements regarding the events. We hope you'll enjoy our anniversary month and, of course, the many many months after that.   2. Hello everyone! First of all "Happy New Year to you all"! Let's toast to yesterdays achievements and tomorrows bright future. As you know the first part of January is usually the time to reflect about last year and to speak about our future brings in 2022. In January 2021 we started after many meetings our discord bot. Our main admins who have supported and maintained our servers and website were were a a bit sceptical about this feature but look after 1 year the community has grown, people are more closely connected and thank to all donators we have also received funding to now help out financially (1683,76 euros). Who would have thought, right? The more donations were received the more we were able to invest to keep and update features to make this community more interesting. @Dmxj updated the whole discord with a new template and a TeamMuppet bot and we invested also in some promotion on Trackbase and splatterladder. Last but not least after a long period that @MrMuppet and @MiniMuppet payed everything in this community we are glad to announce that we finally can do something back to them and to the community! Due to the great success and the number of incoming donations we've decided to make use of our TeamMuppet fund to pay the forums for the upcoming 12 months. But enough about money and donations right? 2021 was been an amazing year for TeamMuppet we're glad to announce some new members to the family : Virus - shikzxD - Tuxedo - Gameover - weeds - Tran$i - Monkey - Flo - weed - Darky - LordMarco - Lost - Sir Jere and also welcome back to the squad Bomba - Blindy - Melissa - Aesthetic Jacket - Bobby And what about @Charlie - yes!   3. I know it's a sensitive topic so first off admins will be moderating it as such. Please keep any radical, racial or otherwise stupid comments to yourself. War is terrible and no-one condones what has happened. We wish all the best to Ukraine and highly oppose Russia for what it is doing. That said. What has young John from St. Petersburg done to warrant a ban from TM's ET servers? I understand stomping on the oligarchs and politicians and the people who side in favour of the war, but a general ban on a nations public who arguably disagree with the war doesn't seem fair to me. Even more so in this obscure little community in Wolfenstein:ET.

  5. TeamMuppet presets: Muppet Winter World Ho-Ho-Ho, It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go! So, as you may have noticed, we've decided to transform our website and server into a small muppet winter world. Our winter month has started with some smaller changes like adding a few "snowy" maps into the mapcycle. Be ready for some suprises soon! We can't say more because santa never reveal his secrets. We can say one thing: it's time to search for some warm gloves and make some hot chocolate because it will be ice ice cold!   7. Updated ingame/main TM menu with fast connect to other TM servers, easy access to all rules and website. This should make easier to swap servers from ingame in case of events etc. Full list of rules readable in game. (People sometimes are confused and keep asking about rules) Works best with Legacy client on legacy servers. Can be used as client side main menu upgrade, server side ingame menu upgrade or both. You can try it by downloading _TM.pk3 LEGACY client - place it inside legacy folder in game directory (Default ETLegacy/legacy/...) OLD client - put it in etmain folder if you use old client (Works on old client too but all parts are not functioning correctly) Just tried to make it work out of boredom. I saw something similar running on TM ETpub server I think the community would benefit from this when running this as server side addon. Also leaving behind a TM "cookie" to whoever visits servers increases the chance of random visitor revisiting servers (TM menu in main menu when you open game, little advertisement). If you people find use of it its possible to further improve or modify it as needed. _TM.pk3

  8. For a competitive advantage, you definitely want to favour higher refresh rate. You will on average see enemies sooner when coming around corners etc, because there's a lower chance of someone appearing right after a refresh. The short answer to this is: more FPS is better. You will see enemies sooner and experience less of what feels like input lag (lag between you pressing a button or moving your mouse and something happening on your screen). Even if your monitor won't get a new full frame on every single refresh, you will get at least a partial frame that has more recent information. Additionally on legacy you shouldn't even need to change your cg_fov when doing this. However I'm not sure if this is limited with ultrawide resolutions - maybe someone else knows better.   11. I can't agree here. Many players use selfkill in battle just to avoid death. I'd even say it's quiet often and pretty annoying. The simpliest solutions tend to be the best solutions - as it was mentioned above - the last player to hit a selfkiller gets a kill award and everyone should be satisfied.

  14. Better is the enemy of good... Some people don't like bazookas, some are bothered by mortars, some are annoyed by grenades or airstrikes, and everyone is nervous about rambo medics with extraordinary aiming skills. There will always be something to disturb someone. However, reading some of the suggestions I am concerned about how easy it is to spoil what we have achieved so far. The server is so popular for a reason. Some of us remember that it wasn't always like it is today, and rebuilding a community isn't easy at all. Please don't spoil this with ill-considered and too far-reaching changes.

"Russia is the best" is clearly a provocative name at this moment and we cant see sane reason why anyone should use it or come to the forum to justify for using it.It wasnt any kind of admin abuse as we react to all provoking names("russia is the best" "kill all russians" "kill all ukrainians" "putin is a murderer" "Z" etc ) Only abuse i see here is from you and the other provocator guy as we have rules and if we say "no provocative names and discussion" then thats it! -We have announced it to you and acted like it but you still come here to yell.   16. First - post it in player abuse? Really? Secondly - as I radically agree with "special economics operations" (not sanctions in Putins terms) that are forced on people in Russia and I understand why they are unfairly put under pressure, I believe that activities that people do in free time (and which has no economical benefit) should not be banned. Even more - playing games in servers outside Russia (FPS games like ET, CS, valorant, R6S etc, all mmorpg games ..) maybe gives those Russian people the only way to communicate people outside Russia as facebook, twitter, youtube etc are all closed off. They have no real ways to connect to their friends and get at least some accurate information on what is going on. Coming from former USSR state and from behind Iron Curtain - I know fairly well how tough is to be cut off from rest of the world.

  19. Yo, Just came on an idea that we can place red and yellow areas on maps that appear on L menu or G to show where players cannot shoot heavy & mortar. It might look like I attach. Extra if we can also show/hide these areas by clicking another key or selecting checkbox in menu or somewhere. Since ET is on steam, we have more players and more work to do. It might be helpful for us to handle this mess. What do you think?

  24. Obviously we had further conversation on discord but thought best to put my opinion in here too since this is the main topic for this discussion. My opinion is it shouldn’t be changed as I like the self kill feature. however I see both sides and I think some people are forgetting that the aim is to find the happiest solution for everyone. As said by others I think the best course of action is award kill to person who last inflicted damage to the person who self kills. This way we can have the people who get frustrated by self kill get awarded and the people who use the self kill as a battle tactic to still be able to do this. As for the suicidal kamikaze self killer dilemma then surely self kill counts as a death? That way it decreases the likelihood someone will do this. But again if someone is doing this strategically they still can. this seems to be the fair and down the middle approach to me but feel free to disagree that’s why we have these discussions. Just remember bigger picture and not what you want. Much love my fellow Muppets

  25. Hi all, I'm back since a few weeks. Almost 30 year old Belgian sportfreak but due to an injury I had some time to play again. Im a sales person of building automation and I combine it with a nice girlfriend and lots of sport (15 to 25hours of training a week as I am a Triathlete and IronMan finisher). I used to play ET since 2005, played on several servers, clans & nicknames (/<ashi, bruges4life, Fcb4ever...). Was a clanleader of .:EEF:. / #EEF[...], member of =BO=, NL-clan and some other clans I already forgot. Started to play on a British ETpro server but i forgot the name, still trying to find it :D. While that period I used to play clanwars etc... Than I moved to funservers and joined the EEF clan where i became co/clanleader. I think i quited aroud 10 years ago with some short comebacks (few weeks). My last 'active period' was on the 1337 and Kernwaffe.xp servers.

  27. DirtyBird, I checked your history You have received 4 warmings in past 3 days, even on the same day Sty kicked you, you got a warning from Cyber for a granade in spawn. Please dont expect to get every map a new warning. Once you should know the rules, it is fair to receive a kick to make you aware SK is realy not allowed.

  28. I suggest that if you can't fire heavy weapons into spawn, then you shouldn't be allowed to fire heavy weapons out of spawn. That used to be the rule on non-sk servers I played on back in the day.

  30. Currently looking something like that. Also possible to add button to open forum link for full list of rules with more explanations if necessary. Same can be done under SK rules to open Legacy Server Rules,Admin/Member Guidelines and Commands! for additional pictures. Removing 2 tabs with information directed to members seems to clear up more ui memory and this might work now on 64bit Ubuntu without crashing client.

  34. Fixed lvls 29.03.lvl system above 5 are the same on all servers.Only difference is lvl 4 a friend and 5 donator.Corrected admin/donator/friend lvls from database so they should match. Added minbot/maxbot to lvl 10s too @StaR @GoLdFiNgEr @Ande @Dragonkiss

  35. It might be due to the fact that ETL2 runs on snaps/sv_fps "40" and ETL1 on "20" value. Higher snaps value improves the hit registration (to make it simple, it's something like 64 vs 128 tick in CS:GO or Valorant). So the hitreg on ETL2 will be always better, not mentioning the higher load on ETL1 which makes players lose packets, etc. ETL1 can't run on snaps "40" because the load is too big (too many players).

  37. From my standpoint, infight self kill is really frustrating, especially when the guy who sk is a pure fragger. A delay could limit some behaviors such as people who trick jump into enemies group with nades or panza, and who selkill before being killed. To be very honest, I would disable also all the player weapons as soon as he has activated the sekfkill command. Some pple will consider that I'm a bit extremist, but I consider that systematic uses of selfkill is a plague for the fun so any solution to limit this practice would be good.

  39. I understand that selfkill in battle can be frustrating, you don't get the reward (kill) for being the better shooter (or winner of given encounter, whatever) . But I am strongly against a time delay. Yes you can time it, but first you have to remember that there IS a delay, then apply that. That would lead to many missed respawns imo. As for the kill award, yeah, absolutely, award the kill to the last person to hit you before your selfkill (probably something like a second or two before).

  41. Hello A small gift for you guys lovers of baserace, done by one baserace hater. To celebrate my 1-year badge, I've fixed the mapscript so when time is out the team ahead will win, or it'll be a tie, but map will end. No more infinite maptime, no more free SR for axis. And for the freaks who wanna know how I did it, it's simple: the script was missing the timelimit_hit trigger Also, I copied from other mapscripts (darji2 to be precise). So, you have to set always a winner (axis or allies) at beginning of the game, otherwise the game gets stuck in 0:00 timelimit. // Winner on expiration of round timer (0=Axis, 1=Allies) wm_setwinner 0 Then in game_manager there is a trigger called timelimit_hit that, guess what, it triggers when timelimit is hit. There we should add all the logic to find the winner, but the baserace script has already another trigger called 'findwinner' so it makes life easier: trigger timelimit_hit { trigger game_manager findwinner } And last, is to add one line into 'findwinner' script: wm_setwinner -1 ("it's a tie!" when the other 2 conditions don't apply) trigger findwinner { wm_setwinner -1 accum 3 abort_if_equal 0 wm_setwinner 1 accum 3 abort_if_greater_than -1 wm_setwinner 0 } That's it, enjoy baserace_desert for the rest of your life baserace_desert.script

  44. Now I'm sure some of you are sick of RtCW veterans whining about how stock ET classes and maps are badly balanced, but comparing the two games yields important insights into this issue. You can trace this consternation over rambo medics all the back to the initial ET release. We were the first to notice and complain during the fueldump only beta. ET medics simply have too much ammo and can operate independently of field ops. The reverse is true too. RtCW Lieutenants (field ops) have to constantly ration their charge bar to supply ammo to medics. ET field ops have far more charge to use for artillery/airstrike. This is made less problematic in ET with the introduction of sticky charges and a team-wide recharge timer artillery/airstrike. Additionally, ET airstrikes have their charge requirement increased from 1/2 (in RTCW) to 3/4 or full. These changes had not been necessary in RtCW despite how easy it was to spam airstrikes. One simple change (in the sense of gameplay complexity) is to deny medics the extra clip + grenade after leveling light weapons, and the ability to pick up an enemy's dropped gun. To get a sense of how much difference this makes, watch how differently Caro plays when he limits himself to a single pistol as primary. This is how gunfights in RtCW often end up - 'orphaned' medics have to fend for themselves with the miserly pistol against SMGs that fire 2-3x the ET rate (see this). In RtCW, I would run around with the pistol and only switching to SMG when necessary to conserve ammo. In ET public games, I'll often go full on rambo and self-kill unless my team is under siege. Another factor that incentivises rambo medics is map design: the availability of ammo cabinets, and placement of spawn points. The latter point is subtle. In the standard maps, spawn points are often close to objectives in such a way that it's relatively advantageous to go on a solo shooting spree and then self kill. Think of tc_base vs erdenburg. In tc_base, although both radars are relatively close by, reaching them opens yourself up to easy attacks. To reach the north radar, you have to thread on open ground surrounded on all sides, high and low. To reach the south radar, you have to run through a narrow corridor which enemies have a clear sight of and then clear one of two narrow gaps (one of which requires a jump) to access the staircase. So when the south radar is lost, Axis defenders tend to prefer holding their position on the high ground, or staying near the spawn to watch the ground corridors in both directions. It plays out this way in both public games and tournaments unless Axis is dominating. You can make a similar point for the others: Village, Assault, Ice, Beach. There is little you can do to address without architectural modifications, except maybe to remove ammo and health cabinets. It sounds like overkill, however.

  47. No command required. It must be adjusted with the mouse software. There are also on some models minipulations to be done on the mouse with key combinations. If no software is provided, the polling rate can be adjusted with this : What Is Mouse Polling Rate? [How to Test and Change It] - Tekpip Most recent mice have a polling rate of 1000hz(1ms) by default and this is most appropriate for most games. But in some games depending on the sensitivity of the mouse (low/mid/high) it is sometimes necessary to lower the polling rate to 500hz (2ms). For example, on ET if you have a low sensitivity it is more interesting to use 500hz (2ms) because it is the most stable and therefore the tracking is better.

  48. Multiquote incoming I like the thinking behind this. Why not allow something that does not give any competitive advantage but a fun experience or trip back to memory land for some? I think if its doable, it should be done and be turned off by default and whoever likes, can turn it back on. It carries the same logic with allowing turn on/off blood, beatiful sky, smoke etc but unlike the previous - its a preference that has no competitive advantage. Its a war game. There will be fragging if we like it or not. There will be fraggers if we like it or not. Awards like "highest fragger" for example promotes much more fragging, but we are fine giving that award out every round? And show the killspree record of the map? You missed the most important part of the idea - the sounds can be turned on/off and that choice can be personal to everyone. We have enabled custom sounds and images before. Even winter/christmas time. I dont see how this is different? If we wanna keep it fully pure, then lets also disallow custom configs and scripts for players as they are complete opposites of pure and simple. +1 . Thats how it should be on most cases where the option gives no advantage. Even if we personally dont like it, we should not prevent others having and enjoying it.
